Book Review: Muted notes as important as the notes you play

I have been working through this book for 6 months now. He teaches a progessive method that builds on early exercises and gives you a simple method for playing slide. By default, when I first started playing I made up really complex ways of doing things, and suggests an experienced simplicity. This is not a lick book. But it's more like a handwriting class that allows you to then write your own stuff. I bought a few books and listened to their acommpanying CDs. But I loved the primitive modal whining of that open G chord which he teaches throughout this book, better than the sound of sliding in standard tuning, or some others variations.
