Book Reviews of MegayogaBook Review: Good book to introduce you to yoga Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this with the DVD (see my review); I read the book, then started the DVD. I find it a bit hard to do poses from a book- I need to see the sequence. Maybe after a few more times with the DVD, I'll remember well enough to go back to the book and use it, or devise a stand so I can see the book (I'm near-sighted and can't work-out with glasses on). So take this a general comment on using a book for exercising.
That said, I appreciate the comments in the book about modifying poses for one's own body; that has helped me tremendously. I need to do the Tree pose to help my ankle heal- the book suggests doing it against a wall and it has made all the difference to me. Also, any pose that hurts I modify so that I'm working a muscle group but not injuring myself.
I like that the book recommends minimal props; indeed, the only prop I find I need (aside from clothing) is an extra-thick yoga mat.
My final recommendation: the book plus DVD are a winning combination.
