Book Reviews of Meditation For Dummies (Book and CD edition)Book Review: Meditation for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
Very comprehensive. It'll take a "lifetime" to practice but that's life. Thank you!!
Book Review: Meditation for Dummies Summary: 4 Stars
This book was a required text for a class I took recently. Before reading it, I had discounted the book for some reason. Maybe because it was a 'dummy' book. I could not have been more wrong. It is formatted in an easy to read, fun layout. You can choose to get a basic overview of the section, or delve a little deeper. I was surprised at the accuracy and volume of information. Note that this is an excellent resource for a person just starting meditation or for someone who is blocked and needs a little 'oomph' to get back on track.
Book Review: Meditation for Dummies Summary: 4 Stars
This was a great beginners book that came with a bonus CD for learning the art of meditation. I found it very helpful with setting the right environment that worked best for me, how to clear my mind for the best meditation experience, and suggestions on various positions that can work for anyone regardless of age or physical ability. Great value.
Book Review: Meditation reference book Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this book only for a meditation class. It is quite like a text book, too. It is comprehensive in that it describes different ways to meditate. For easier reading and more heart, I would recommend Meditation by Eknath Easwaran. Use Meditation for Dummies as a reference book.
Book Review: There are better books Summary: 2 Stars
I found this book to be highly superficial, not really develing into the various meditative approaches (which any beginner like me can do). Also, the key points were fragmented within the chapters, making it hard to follow the issue/approach to meditation.
I found Jack Kornfields audio CD "Meditation for Beginners" to be quite excellent and I recomend as a first endeavour into meditation.
