Book Review: One of the best guides ever

MechCommander is a tough game, so thankfully there is a great guide to go with it. Although every mission can be accomplished multiple ways, the author goes through one method step-by-step for each mission and occasionally relays alternate methods. The maps in particular are very good, as are the recommend forces for each mission - the author gives general guidelines while allowing the player to tweak them to suit their strengths.
The book occasionally has a typo - giving the wrong number of artillery strikes in a mission briefing or accidentally calling a unit by the wrong name. I counted less than five in the whole book, which clocks in at over 200 pages, and most of the time you either don't notice or can clearly see it's a typo, so they're not devastating.
This guide is a great tool: I highly recommend it for both hardcore fans of the game and those who need a little help.

The first deals with the vast array of weaponry you'll have to purchase or salvage over the course of the game. Following is a detailed breakdown of every type of BattleMech in the game--from Commando to Masakari. The next section deals with general tactics to employ while assembling and deploying your forces. And that brings us to the walk-throughs--the heart of the book and the most important section for all of you frustrated MechCommanders.
