Book Reviews of Mass Effect: Revelation

Book Review: Awesome
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is written by one of my favorite Sci-fi writers, Drew Karpyshyn. This guy wrote the Darth Bane Series as well as being the lead Writer on KOTOR, Baldur's Gate, and the Mass Effect series. I love everything about his tales and style, and to see him writing novels for this universe is awesome.

I don't think this is his best book, but it's pretty good. Basically it explains Anderson and Saren's relationships as Spectors and the discovery of the Reaper Sovereign. It also brings a new character not in the games that becomes an extremely important behind the scenes scientist in the Mass Effect universe. Hopefully she will be in Mass Effect 3, realizing she is the main character of the next two books.

If you like to read as much as I do and like Mass Effect, definitely read these books. They're entertaining and feel like another mission in the games!

Book Review: A rarity
Summary: 5 Stars

Ascension is one of a few books based on a pre-existing media that can be read by itself. Of course, the style of the writing is also the cause of this, which is the primary reason for the 5 star rating.

The style of the writing is in such a manner that it lets the story itself progress without being hindered by the world building in the background. The two complement each other and are at times hard to distinguish. Information is given on Mass Effect's races, their culture, technology, history, etc. while maintaining linkage to the story. Simultaniously, events in the story act as catalysts for this information to be given.

Overall, Revelations is a novel that gives a good story and a good introduction to the Mass Effect universe and can easily be read as a stand-alone. It's difficult to find fault in it.

Book Review: a true renegade spectre
Summary: 5 Stars

Ever since playing the video game Mass Effect for the X-Box 360 i have become completely obsessed with the universe that the was created by the makers of this game. This novel does great job of expanding the Mass Effect universe by filling in some of the blanks that take place before the video game.

SPOILERS FOR THE VIDEO GAME BELOW
This novel tells the story of how the the Spectre Saren acquired his flag ship Sovereign, which we all know by now is a Reaper. I wont give away any of the books details but if you are a fan of the game you owe it to your self to give this book a chance. You wont be disappointed. This is how a true Renegade Spectre acts. Very good writing

Book Review: Surprisingly good!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is amazing! I really enjoyed it. It's a short read (I've read it in a single day) with very well developed characters and a good mix of action. The book could have been boring with too much babbling about universe, races, technologies and wars but it is not! The background of this great universe is detailed with style and teasing. I would have taken easily 100 more pages but the author focus around few characters and it works.

If you like pop sci-fi like Star Wars, Star Trek or Starship Troopers; this is a must read! The characters are at the core of this believable world and I'm starving for the next book and... the game on xbox360!

Book Review: Must read for fans of the Mass Effect story
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful book. It sets up the back story incredibly well for the villain from the Mass Effect Game (Saren). Also it really fills out the David Anderson character who we didn't get to find out much about in the game. Just as in every Bioware game, the dialogue is a strong point. The author is able to show the underlying thoughts and logic of the characters while maintaining the conversation simultaneously. Another Bioware staple shown in this book is story. Everything lines up perfectly in this book without any inexplicable or illogical coincidences. The book really goes to show that this is a great new IP with a lot of depth to it.
