Book Reviews of Mason-Dixon Knitting: The Curious Knitters' Guide: Stories, Patterns, Advice, Opinions, Questions, Answers, Jokes, and Pictures

Book Review: Love This Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book! I bought it for myself, and then bought one later for my sister-in-law for her birthday. It has some easy patterns and some for the more advanced knitter. If you are looking for something different - not the same old sweaters, scarves, and mittens - you'll find this is a great book. Most of the patterns are for the home, but there are patterns for a house coat, gown, and baby sweater. The writing has a certain witty charm, and these ladies have found interesting things to use for yarn, and interesting ways to involve their families in knitting. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Mason-Dixon Knitting.

Book Review: My Favorite Knitting Book Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I am in love with this book. Truly. I've only owned it for 3 weeks, and I feel like it has gone everywhere with me since I made the purchase.

3 weeks in and I'm working on my 3rd pattern from the book.

This book is great for knitters who enjoy the basics of knitting... the kind of knitting where you can pick up your needles and GO. The authors give you a basic pattern and all the tools you need to take it and make it your own.

I think every knitter everywhere should have this book.

I should mention that I actually sat down and read it cover to cover... the writing is so warm and light... the authors make you feel like you're sitting in their living room having a conversation with you. It's lovely.

Book Review: Suprisingly fun and diffrent.

I want to begin by saying that I did not expect to like this book. I am more of a fashion knitter then a crafty knitter. I did really enjoy this book though. I just had fun reading it. The log cabin blankets are a really versitile pattern that you can use over and over and change into anything. The patterns for rugs are great. I made several for my childrens bedrooms and bathroom. You can just throw them in the wash and plop down another. And since they are so quick and easy to make, you can have a stash in the linen closet for when someone spills juice on the one in their floor.

It isn't high fashion, and yes, half the book is about projects for kids, and if you don't have children of a certin age they are not useful. But this is a great resource if you want to make fast simple projects for your home, and if you want to get your kids involved.

Perfect for knitters who are just starting out, or for old knitters ones who want a fun colorful book for their collection.

Book Review: Great read, great patterns!
Summary: 5 Stars

Not since Elizabeth Zimmerman have knitters talked so engagingly about their lives and their knitting ... a book even non-knitters can enjoy ..

... not to mention, the patterns are outstanding! The use of simple stitches in a variety of ways for a variety of projects is unusual in this day of overly intricate patterns. There is something for everyone, from the beginner to the experienced knitter. It is also special in that it takes patterns we have appreciated through the years in quilts - such as the Log Cabin - and translate them into knitting.

The only problem with the book? It ended too soon!

Book Review: Love this book
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book to share with a friend. We knit with a group one day a week. I am planning on starting with the Modern Log Cabin Blanket and it looks like a fun knit. There are quite a lot of fun and easy patterns for me since I have only been knitting for a year.

The book seems easy to read, the patterns well written and there are funny little comments inside to make it more upbeat than the average book.

I am really glad I bought it.
