Book Reviews of Martha Stewart's Hors d'Oeuvres HandbookBook Review: A "Must" for your kitchen library! Summary: 5 Stars
As owner of a large catering company in central Ohio, I was beginning to grow tired of Martha and of requests from brides to reproduce "Martha's Look". This book, however, is wonderful. It is full of new ideas and twists on the old standbys. Every hors d'oeuvre is illustrated and detailed recipes follow. Ms. Stewart does tend to take some easy recipes and make them more difficult than is necessary, however. Use her book as a guideline and adapt the items to fit your needs.
Book Review: MARTHA DOES IT AGAIN! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a number of books on Hors d'Oeuvres but this is the most comprehensive and complete. There is something for everyone, and then some. The instructions are very detailed and simple to follow. The finger foods vary from simple to "show stopping", and all that I have made are delicious. The best thing about the simplicity of the ingredients is that you can easily make substitutions to suit your taste and it will be great! This book makes me want to have a party!
Book Review: Beautiful book -- absolute must Summary: 5 Stars
The book begins with over 100 pages of high-quality, mouth-watering photos. The recipes are laid out well, and the "basics" section tells you how to make all of the building blocks for hors d'ouevres. There are lots of serving suggestions throughout the book, and many recipes tell you what drinks go well with them. There are also great ideas for different types of parties you can have, as well as good advice on how much food you will need. Great Book!
Book Review: Great cocktail party resource! Summary: 5 Stars
For a book almost ten years old, I was surprised to find that it contains ideas for parties that remain refreshing and impressive even for the most sophisticated cocktail parties. Apart from an abundance of recipes the book is broken down into sections with helpful information which will allow you to combine recipes and create your own versions. I for one use this book regularly in my catering business and never fail to impress my customers!
Book Review: A greaat book for a beginner Summary: 5 Stars
I really liked this book and found it very useful. There are two sections, the first being photographs of the finised product with the page number of the recepie which is in the second section. As we would expect from martha, some are beyond the pale of a fumble fingered beginner like my self, but I have successfully made a number to great aclaim. Being able to compare what I have done to a picture of what it should be is great.
