Kevyn Acoin is brilliant, his workis no less than amazing. This book is designed to achieve the perpetual beauty of the face, and the inner most self through self confidence. This book bringsto light that anyone who thought they could not wear makeup can achieve the beauty they desire.For me, I did not belive that makeup put on the right way could achieve such a new look. This book has done this for me. Showing the basics and not so basic looks that can be achieved. The glamourous, the dramatic, the classic look and many more.He shows you step by step how to apply the makeup and tips on the best staying power to make your makeup last, the best tools, and the different types of makeup that is best for you.It shows you in depth how to contour and highlight your face for all those special occasions. i am a 22 yr old female,and have been following kevyn since '89 (an appearance on liftimes' "attitudes".)this book is very informative and the makeovers' are delish.as a freelance makeup artist myself,i've always looked for perfection (his recreations of the hollywood stars,the makeup is better and more precise than the originals-sorry girls!)i have only two minor complaints: the elimination of many "keys" to a "kevyn" in his descriptions:contour from the eye socket to nostril,false individual lashes (maybe he thought "real" women may get overwhelmed with all that info)and the no real modern looks,beautiful and flawless,yes,sheer,shiny skin with glossy lids,and bitten juicy lips,no.oh well,the book is quite fabu and i think kevyns an absolute genius and a doll.10 STARS FROM ME!thanx.kim cleveland in texas.Book Review: A MASTERPIECE!

As a former model and the subject of many make-up artist's brushes, I found Kevyn's book a delight to get my hands on. I thought I knew it all (or at least most of it) when it came to makeup application and tricks. Kevyn opened my eyes (and lips, brows and cheekbones) to a potpourri of enhancement tricks of the trade. In my "book" he stands alone in the field of makeup artistry. Although I've never had the pleasure of meeting him, personally, the occasions of which I have seen him, via media and in his book, clearly he exudes a humble and warm persona...two aspects rarely seen in this biz...of fashion. The book is a must have for the masses...that is, anyone who chooses to embellish their look and have some fun. Not to mention...the book is aesthetically pleasing and will do your coffee table proud!Book Review: Absolutely Fabulous!

Kevyn's voice in this book is so nice and not condescending, that half the fun was just reading his anecdotes. The transformations he effects on people are amazing, just look at the pages with his sister Carla!The looks presented toward the end are just amazing, the people are mostly unrecognizable, but the first part talks about make-up for you and me. Do you want to spotlight your eyes? Try the Julia Roberts smoky look, I did and amazed myself!
I also like that Kevyn doesn't use brand names or specific shades, I can't afford $50 eyeshadow, so I have to work with what I can, or with a shade that I prefer, and he allows for that. It's all about your choices and what you want to do.
And that teacher's note at the end is so sweet....
