Book Reviews of Making FacesBook Review: Very Good Book! Summary: 5 Stars
Making faces was an excellent book for make-up tips. The best part about the book for me was the picture of where to highlight and low-light facial features (such as low-lighting the sides of the nose and highlighting the forehead and bridge of the nose). The book is very straight forward, to the point, and does not contain any of the "fluff" that many other make-up artists use to fill up their books. There are also a lot of makeovers to try for everyday and for special occasions. It is a wonderful step-by-step guide for a beginner and for an advanced make-up user and I highly recommend purchasing this book!
Book Review: This book taught me everything I know... Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this book for about ten years and it taught me the basics of...well everything beauty. It gives you clear steps on how and why to apply all types of makeup. My two sisters and I have read it so many times that some of the pages have come loose but I will still keep it to reference it for years to come. The celebrity transformations are amazing! I never knew Courtney Love could look normal....
I would highly recommend this book to a person looking for guidance or maybe as a gift for the girl who over shapes her eyebrows (jk). It would also be helpful for a young teen new to make up.
Book Review: From a fellow artist, I can say I only wish I got tomeet him Summary: 5 Stars
I am also a Makeup Artist in Los Angeles, where makeup artists are on every corner, and I must say Kevin is/was a true talent. When I read his heartfelt words, I realize he's not only a genius artist, but the most open-minded humanitarian as well. Him AND his work are truely inspirational...his art, I personally think, puts other makeup books to shame. From a proffesional standpoint I think his book is extremely good to have but his book will also be useful to the everyday person as he goes into alot of different helpful techniques. His book is amazing-so if you love makeup, go get it!
Book Review: Fantastic Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely LOVED this book. As a cosmetologist Im always looking to see dramatic changes in make up as well as something subtle to be warn everyday or for a wedding. This book has it all (more of the everyday type stuff and not very many dramatic looks though). It gives you a ton of illistrations on how to apply as well as the finished photo and great step by step instructions on achieving the looks shown. Its great even if youre not a professional. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for beginners as well as professionals who've been in the industry for a long time!
Book Review: Love It Summary: 5 Stars
What else can I say but, I LOVE IT. As a make-up artist myself it has great tricks and tips, awsome pictures, amazing make-overs and an interesting look into how he got started. This book is good for anyone, not just the make-up addict, and is good for all levels from the "just curious" to the most advanced. You will never get bored of it, just leave it on the coffee table as a conversation starter or just to breeze through for fun. When ever I am in a rut for a new look, I look to this book for inspiration. I highly recommend it to all!!!
