As someone dealing with infertility, I have read lots of information through books and internet. I have also seen ob/gyns. I have been frustrated with the arrogance and ignorance of the mainstream medicine, which is often defensive and close-minded when it comes to the topic of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The jump-into-conclusions MDs who did not try to find every possible reason of infertility frustrated me too. I have also been disappointed with some highly reputable TCM practitioners' extreme take on anti-modern-medicine. I have personally experienced several episodes of illness when the mainstream medicine saw as mysteries, and I was cured from the misery by TCM. So, seeing mainstream MDs being close-minded to TCM annoys me. However, I also believe that the mainstream medicine has its advantage. This book is very informative, and it is well-balanced with both sides of perspectives. While TCM can be very complicated and abstract for those unfamiliars to understand, this book introduces and explains the TCM perspectives in an easy-to-understand way, though far from the depth of TCM. I also appreciate Dr. David's philosophy of finding the problem (accurate and careful diagnosis) and treating the problem with least drastic methods. I agree with him that today too many MDs don't bother to spend time on delicately diagnosing the patient and just throw in the general, one-size-fits-all treatment, regardless that the patient may not need such a strong treatment. It is like fishing by bombing the whole lake. This book provides good information on many infertility issues, ways to self-improve, and knowledge beyond my expectation, after I have researched on the infertility topics for a while. The knowledge I receive from this book can also help facilitate the discussion with my ob/gyn. If there is any complaint about this book, it is that the book is dry and contains so much information that it really feels like reading a big textbook. It did take my determination to finish reading the book. My husband can hardly find time to read, so reading this book is like an impossible task for him. I wish they made audio books of this book so that busy people like my husband can benefit from it too. Overall, this is THE BOOK I would highly recommend to anyone dealing with infertility.
