Book Reviews of Magician: Master (Riftwar Saga, Book 2)Book Review: more magic and more excitement [no spoilers] Summary: 5 Stars
"Magician: Master" is the exciting second volume in the Riftwar Saga. The tale continues to follow a splendid cast of characters from the first novel and introduce new ones, however the rise of Pug and Tomas in their respective field of power dominate the novel. The book is fast with well-timed action on both land and sea. The author conveys the magic invoked brilliantly, placing the reader in the middle of the conflicts creating a definite classic.I dislike beginning a new chapter and apparently months or years have elapsed without an obvious note at the chapter head. Although Amazon.com is more than likely advertising the "Author's Preferred Edition", I am reviewing my original paperback and maybe the chronological frustration is addressed. I had an excellent time reading the book after all these years and highly recommend the series to any fan of the fantasy genre. Thank you.
Book Review: Terrific! Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this conclusion! Although, I must admit, that for the sake of convenience, I am much relieved that _Apprentice_ and _Master_ are broken up into their own volumes. Two characters that I recalled quite fondly from the first time reading this series, Amos Trask and Jimmy the Hand, play larger roles here, and I am quite excited to continue reading this series. And while this is a conclusion, of sorts, by the end there are still many questions raised and issues left unresolved at the end. Which is why this makes a great start to a terrific series! Feist's characters, however, more so even than his exciting plotting, are what drives his novels. After all, it has been over a decade and perhaps a thousand books between the first time reading them and now, and when Jimmy the Hand swooped in, or Amos arrived, I broke out into a huge grin, fondly remembering them and delighted to hear about them again.
Book Review: Read Lord of the Rings? This is the college version!! Summary: 5 Stars
The Entire Riftwar Saga, by Raymond E. Feist---Don't forget
this name!! This 4 book series builds with almost nothing in
the way of fast happenings... It builds like quality foreplay
to that perfect conclusion: the satisfied reader!! Hints of
happenings dropped in the first book suddenly appear in the
4th book... never a loose string dropped: and there are many!
Everything throughout the 4 book series is interconnected.
The plot pulls along a beginning reader, drawing them into
a fascinating web of intrigue that continually builds...
To the college level readers... well you'll have to read the
entire series several times to catch the hundreds of nuances
that pop up and connect not just in one book, but the entire
series. If you read Lord of the Rings when you were younger
you MUST READ THIS ENTIRE Review: Even better! Summary: 5 Stars
In this sequel to Magician: Apprentice, we begin to see the effects that the great war between worlds is having. Pug, now a slave on Kelewan, has his talent recognized, and he begins his training in the art of magic. Thomas, wearing the armor of the long dead Velheru, Ashen-Shugar, becomes one of the greatest warriors of his age, but at what cost? Both the Tsurani Empire and the Kingdom are cracking under the strain, and it is up to someone to end the war. This book is a great sequel to Magician: Apprentice, and is even better than that book! This book is sprinkled with high sorcery, fantastic creatures, and exciting battles. If you liked the first book of this series, then you will absolutely love this book! I highly recommend these books to any (and every!) fan of fantasy literature.
Book Review: excellent book, by far my favourite Summary: 5 Stars
"Magician" is an excellent book that wouldn't let me put it down. It has everything that I ever want to read about: adventure, romance, mystery, war, death, friendship, family, as well as many others, through the journey through the life of Pug, from when he was just an orphan kid, to when he became a master magician with a family. The relationships between Pug and Tomas, and Pug and Carmine were strong and enduring, and I couldn't wait for the reunions between these characters after Pug came back through the rift. This book shows views between people of different worlds who have different ways of life through a person who lived in both world's eyes. I would definitely recommend Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master to anyone who enjoys reading.
