Book Review: Fantastic story telling for the car!
Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this primarily for my five year old (although I think the toddler benefits from hearing it as well) while we're riding in the car, because we spend at least 30-45 minutes per day in the car. She loves listening to the stories and for the most part listens intently and occassionally asks questions about what is going on in the story and why Jack or Annie said or did something in particular.
The audio book is the way to go; much better than getting a DVD/TV player installed in your car. The author, Mary Pope Osborne, does a good job inflecting her voice to engage my daughter. I highly recommend this audio book series for anyone with youngsters who need a distraction while in the car.
We have 2 more stories left in this disc set and I plan on buying the next series as soon as I get tired of hearing this set over and over again!
Book Review: Wow! What else can I say?

We discovered this through a Wendy's kids meal promo. Then I bought the set here at Amazon. It arrived in 2 days. What can I say? The narration is excellent! The story is simple, yet, well written to inspire your child to sit in his/her seat and use their imagination. It has given me "sanity" in my drives with the kids, with the treasured silence that has filled the air, as they listen to the cd. We've purchased the books as well, and it is great to have it to read along with. Listening to the author narrate also has made me a better story reader to my children.
My kids are 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. And they can follow the story really well. And I have a 9 month old baby, too...and the CD gets him sleeping pretty well while we drive.
Book Review: My 4 yr old can enthusiastically retell the stories word for word!

We received DINOSAURS BEFORE DARK audio CD in a Wendy's kids Meal. This is the best kids meal idea ever!!! My children love the stories read to them in the car on long or short trips. My 4 yr old son can recite this story word for word with all the enthusiasm and excitement as read by the author. He even uses large, descriptive vocabulary words - he is definitely learning by listening! This is way better than a DVD player because they get to use their imagination. When we first received this book on CD, I thought it would just be another thing to throw away - boy was I wrong! Wonderful, Wonderful stories - I can't say enough good things about Mary Pope Osborne and her stories. Many thanks to Wendy's for giving us such a great "toy"
Book Review: best gift ever

I usually just read reviews, not write them but I thought this warranted the time. We bought this for our five year old daughter for Christmas last year. She liked them but my three year old son has gone nuts over them! He will listen to them everyday for hours at a time. He can even recite parts of them. It's amazing. He loves all of the adventures. I must say, I haven't gotten tired of them either which I can't say of most kid CDs. Mary Pope Osbornes voice is quite calm and soothing. I highly recommend these CDs. They are great for nap time or quiet time. I just ordered the next two sets for him for his birthday and Christmas. I hope he likes them as much as the originals.Book Review: Excellent for car rides

We listen to books on CD in the car, even on short trips to the grocery store. I was very excited when I found the Magic Tree House collection. Although the books may have been written for older children, our four year old loves to listen to the stories and talks a lot about them. He integrates parts of the various stories in his play at home, and our car rides, short and long ones, have become very enjoyable. I would say that the Magic Tree House collection is appropriate for kids starting at the age of four. There is no violence, but unlimited possibilities for playful kids imagination in the world of pirates, dinosaurs, knights etc.
