Book Reviews of Mac OS X Tiger: Missing ManualBook Review: An Eye for Everything Summary: 5 Stars
I started out to write an eye for detail, but Pogue's Missing Manual books go far beyond that. He always uses his comprehensive knowledge to weave a fabric that balances the aim of a program with the fiddling details that drive users crazy. As soon as I had skimmed the Mac OS X book I set it aside and read one section a day. Nothing escapes his eye, every section clears up something that I had always wondered about. Great stuff!
Book Review: Mac OS X "The Missing Manual" Tiger Edition Summary: 5 Stars
In the past I have used extensively the PANTHER EDITION of "The Missing Manual" for
OS X. I can't imagine any serious person who works in this arena without this manual.
The Tiger Edition is the update for Tiger OS and is beautifully laid out. It is easy to use
and David Pogue, the author, has brought his expertise in a clearly written bestseller for anyone to understand. A MUST for any serious computer person.
Book Review: Nice book Summary: 5 Stars
Overall, this was a great book as it helped me get up to speed with OS X in short order. I am a recent switcher and I used this book after I decided to purchase my first Mac a few weeks ago. I first started thinking about switching after visiting a site http://switchtoamac.blogspot.com. You can do a websearch on "switchtoamac" and you'll find it.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who has OS X Tiger
Book Review: Mac OSX Tiger edition......The Missing Manual Summary: 5 Stars
I feel that the group of "missing manuals" is the greatest book for me. I have tried them all and can find more answers in this than any other.
I had a system crash not long ago...
Called Apple (have a care contract)....spent long time with them...until they surrendered,....I paniced and went to my "manual". The problem was solved with just a little reading. I highly reccomend this to all Mac users.
Book Review: Extensive and Comprehensive Summary: 5 Stars
As a first time user of a Mac OS product I was challenged by the task of learning a new system after many years of DOS and Windows. David Pogue's Missing Manual greatly simplified the exercise. Every question I've had so far has been answered in his book. It is written with a touch of humor and actually makes the learning of an OS from the beginning enjoyable.
Thanks David for such a great manual.
