Book Reviews of Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing ManualBook Review: Liferaft Summary: 5 Stars
This book is liferaft for me. Even seven months into using Mac OS X Leopard, after all those years in the Classic Mac environment, I still frequently find myself all at sea. It doesn't help that in my mid-seventies my memory is unreliable, but the Missing Manual is right there, well-indexed to enable me to find the topic I need and unfailingly helpful, not only answering my questions, but offering information I wouldn't have thought to ask for. Without it, I would be driving my children crazy with questions like: "Why did it return my email when I tried to attach a photograph?" and "Why can't my friend open the photos that did get through on her PC--they're all JPEGs?" See The Missing Manual, Page 708.
Book Review: The only book you need for this subject Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a recent Windows refugee and bought my first Mac computer -- the Intel Imac, last Christmas. I looked at a number of books available to guide me through the OS and this so far has been the best. Just a bit of writer's sarcasm once in a while but you will never get bored. You will get the step by step instructions and time saving tips & tricks so you don't have to spend hours on Google searching for answers. The book is loaded with info and you don't have to be a geek to understand them -- just keep a notebook on the side -- it's very handy if you need to go back on certain topics..... nuff said.
Cheers!
Book Review: Great book, great buy Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a geek with a long work history in IT, but I never had a Mac or worked on a Mac until this year. I needed a guide to light my way, and the Missing Manual has been perfect. It's been just the right blend of "newbie" information and hard-core tech that fills in the details. I've learned a lot about my new Mac thanks to this book. Highly recommended for new Mac users with a good tech background or new users with no tech background. Either way, you will learn what you need to know. The writing style is enjoyable and won't put you to sleep (like many other manuals I've read). Overall this was a great way to start my Mac education.
Book Review: Surprised at how easy it was Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first time I ever ordered anything from Amazon and did so because I finally invested in a Macintosh and really needed the $35 manual but didn't want to pay full price. So I found one that was "used" and since it was only $1.59, I decided to take a chance. Well, this so called "used" manual came to me practically brand new. And right away too, with no problems. Am very happy with how the whole thing was handled and how I was kept informed of what was happening. This manual is great and it very easily helps me whenever I need it. Thank you Amazon. This used book is just as good as a new book.
Book Review: Mac OS X Leopard Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book extremely helpful. Although Mac is the easiest computer to operate, I still had a million questions and nary a booklet. They do have classes but in a city far, far away. I will be honest, I have scanned this book. I have not memorized it nor do I claim to be an expert; however, this is what I do with all "how to" books. For me this works in that it gives me an idea of all the functions and from there when I need to know a specific thing, I just refer back to the manual and find my answer.
They were correct, Mac OS X Leopard is the book that should have been in the box.
