Book Reviews of Lyra's OxfordBook Review: ????????? Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this book with the high hopes of giving me the closure I felt I needed after reading the awesome Golden Compass trilogy. Unfortunately, this did not deliver. In reality, it was a big let down and I was disappointed...very disappointed...
I felt this short story was more of an "extra" that fitted no where in the trilogy, and to turn it into a quick buck, the author titled it after the original main character to trick people into buying it... Well... he got me! =D
I read the entire darn thing while I was in my doctor's waiting room.
Simply put, it's a very short story, nothing really to do with the original trilogy, and required no further thought process: you just read the story and is left with nothing to ponder over.
Although it was not "terrible," I would not recommend it.
As a matter of fact, I gave the book to the friend that made me read the trilogy so he wouldnt waste his money! It's one of those books (and I have many!) that isn't even good enough to stay in my library.
Book Review: Atheist Propaganda Summary: 1 Stars
This atheistic diatribe, along with other so-called fiction books like Harry Potter Boxset Books 1-7 and Rabid: A Novel, will destroy the soul of America if not stopped immediately. I call upon Amazon to stop selling them, for they are teaching people that Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ does not exist or is not relavant to today. This is wrong! Protect your children from these books!
Book Review: Should be called a booklet, not a book. Summary: 1 Stars
If you are looking for an excellent book (or books) by Philip Pullman, by all means get any or all of his His Dark Materials trilogy. I got all three for a great price on Amazon and enjoyed each one. Lyra's Oxford is just a little booklet that is an accompaniement to the Dark Materials and really defies credibility by calling itself a paperback (I guess 'cause it's made out of paper). Just a few pages and not really worth the $7 in my opinion.
Book Review: Older Fans, Don't Waste Your Time Summary: 1 Stars
I loved the Dark Material series and was excited to see another book featuring Lyra. Have to say I was disappointed. The book is fine, but only about 50 pages and starts a story the just stops. Not really worth the time.
Book Review: chapter, not a book! Summary: 1 Stars
This is a chapter, not a book, and the $7 price is absurd for what it is. Maybe it's worth $1, but certainly not more than that! The story isn't even finished at the end of the "book"
