Book Reviews of Lush Life: A NovelBook Review: One of the best I've read - - - Summary: 5 Stars
- - not for most "normal" reasons (whatever THEY are), but in the characters and dialogue. Richard Price is unbelievably great in his grasp of people, different people (Yolanda is a person I'd love to know).
This is the third of his books I've read -- and, this guy is good!
Book Review: Good Read Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book for my boyfriend, after he had been talking about it for weeks... he's about half way through and seems to have given up on it? Maybe it's a lack of time, but he rarely puts down a good read... So that about says it!
Book Review: Excellent Reading! Summary: 5 Stars
This was the best book I've read since The Corrections. A rich depiction of the seedy underbelly of urban life. It's been compared to Bonfire of the Vanities, and while it it is not quite that good, it is close.
Book Review: The Great American Novel Summary: 5 Stars
Richard Price's novels always hit me hard and haunt me forever. This time he's written the Great American Novel. Updike and Roth are parochial by comparison.
Book Review: A Real Novel Summary: 5 Stars
It takes a few pages to get with the flow of his language, but once you're in, it works beautifully. His best since 'The Wanderers' and that's saying a lot.
