Book Reviews of Love, Lucy

Book Review: The Best Book! ...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is on of the best books that can be put on a shelf. The book "Love, Lucy" is written by Lucille Ball herself. It is absolutally thrilling to go along with Lucy and her life. It does not go through her entire life but it covers it through 1964.It was written by her so it tells her life in her eyes looking back. She gives little side notes on the side sometimes, it seems. She tells you how what she got out of her life and how she was going to try to improve.

Lucille also give a little background on Desi and his life. She goes along with his life as she does her; which proves she still loved him...even after the separation.

Going along with Lucy gives you the sad, happy and the exsiting times she went through. If you are a Lucy fan, and even if you are not, you will surely love this book.

Book Review: Lucy the Lady with no "splan'n to do"
Summary: 5 Stars

I truly enjoyed this book, as did my 88 year old grandmother and 66 year old aunt. Lucy has always been like a favorite family member. This book makes you feel like she is speaking in her own words and we are so glad her family decided to publish it. Contrasted againsted The Book by Desi Arnez, made it even more interesting. This book gave personal insight to the struggles Lucy faced in her childhood, an endurance driven by the need to be loved, and her strong work ethic. Far less juicy and business detail oriented than The Book, it mirrors the same respect and love Lucy and Desi shared even after they divorced. Lucy was a true lady. It did not take much reading between the lines to see she was mindful of Desi's feelings and privacy while telling her story.

Book Review: Excellent book
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this book with moderate expectations and wound up being unable to put it down. Hearing this amazing woman tell the story of her own life was compelling. While she does allude to the drama with Desi, it was obvious that she was mindful of the fact that her children would one day be reading this. I think she does a great job of navigating that tightrope of providing the reader with insight into her experiences while, at the same time, being careful not to compromise the privacy of her family. I would have loved more juicy details, however, I am willing to forego those details in exchange for preserving my memory of her as the class act who we believed her to be. The only part about this book which I did not like was that it ended far too soon!

Book Review: Awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is awesome! I never knew about the beginning of her life. You can really sense the love she had for her family and most of all for Desi Arnaz. The way she talks about their first meeting and how much the were in love was really stunning. Most of the book is dedicated to how great and special he was. She even told the stories about his faults in a way that showed how much she really did care for him. It was touching when she talked about how she wanted to be such a great wife and only wanted to make Desi happy, they were both very flawed people that accomplished something great. I was glad she only talked about Gary for a couple of pages. OVerall, it was a terrific read and I would recommend it to anyone that loves Lucy and Desi.
