Book Review: Love Comes Softly the book version
Summary: 5 Stars
If anyone who has seen the Hallmark movie and reads this book expecting to see the movie again in written word is going to be mistaken.
Whereas the movie was good and touching, the book goes beyond that. The book starts picks up with a grieving Marty and the familiar scene of Clark asking her hand in marriage.
However, the similarities end there. Missie is two years old and not the willful child we see in the movie. The first chapters of the book explore the first week of Marty's new life with the Davises. From learning to be mother to Missie to trying to cook a meal in her new kitchen.
The book is rich with describing Marty's heart ache for her first husband and her distrust of Clark and the curiousity she holds for God. Whereas the movie has a handful of characters, the book is filled with many characters, the Davises neighbors. From the loving Ma Graham to the sad Wanda, and to the pitiful Mrs. Larson and her daughters.
The book is wonderful and worth reading.
