Book Reviews of Loser

Book Review: An Inside Look At Bullying
Summary: 5 Stars

Donald Zinkoff is one of the coolest kids you could ever want to meet, and the absolute coolest kid to hang out with. He loves school, wants to be friends with everybody, has a great laugh, he's just an all-around great guy. That is, until he hits fourth grade. Suddenly Zinkoff is no longer cool, he's a loser. Yeah, his sloppy handwriting, uncontrollable giggling, bad grades, clumsiness, etc. were pretty much unnoticed when he was younger. But suddenly, in fourth grade, everyone notices every single mistake he makes. And it only gets worse when he begins doing things that affect the other kids in his class. Sure, everyone has the name LOSER to describe Zinkoff, but that's not him. He thinks he's just like everyone else, and he really is, until a fateful winter night when Zinkoff suddenly becomes a hero.

Out of every book that I have read so far this year, I will admit that I believe Donald Zinkoff is my favorite character of them all. His love for life, and learning is incredible, and the way that he keeps his head up even when he learns what his classmates think of him is a great lesson for all kids who are going through the same thing that Zinkoff goes through. Readers as young as the age of five-years-old will enjoy this book, as it follows Zinkoff from kindergarten all the way through fourth grade, and gives you an inside look at how his LOSER status evolved. Spinelli has accomplished greatness with this book, and I hope to read more from him in the future.

Do you enjoy a good adventure? If so the book Loser is for you. Loser is about a small boy named Zinkoff who lives is a rural/suburban town. In the story he has many adventures like facing the "furnaces monster" where Zinkoff tries to build up enough courage to walk down into the cellar without having to run back up. Zinkoff also becomes mailman for a day and delivers false messages. On Zinkoff's mailman route, Zinkoff becomes friends with a person who calls him "mailman". Throughout the book Zinkoff visits her and sees her quite often. Zinkoff always sees the waiting man waiting for his brother's return. He also has another friend on the street Claudia or "the leash girl." Claudia gives Zinkoff a good luck stone.

The characters in the book are Zinkoff, Zinkoff's Dad, Zinkoff's Mom, Polly, Claudia, Claudia's mom, the waiting man, The old lady, Andrew and some other people from school. Zinkoff is a primary character who does change throughout the book. Zinkoff is funny and pretty dumb. Zinkoff's parents are both secondary and don't really change throughout the book. Polly is Zinkoff's little sister she is a secondary character and in some ways changes through out the book. Claudia is a little girl on a leash at the end of the street. Zinkoff is friends with Claudia, she is a secondary character and she does change.

To conclude Loser is a great adventure. Loser is a good book that may be right for you.

Has anyone tried to make you feel like you didn't belong? In this book Lose Has anyone tried to make you feel like you don't belong? In the book Loser by Jerry Spinelli, a little boy is picked on at school. They make him feel like he doesn't belong. His only friends are a glass bear and a glass fox that his mother threw away because they were old and broken. But he took the animals out of the garbage and made friends with them sense he as none at school. His bedroom is his main place where he stays with his animal friends.
This book by Jerry Spinelli is a must read. In this book, Jerry Spinelli expresses how the boy feels when his classmates pick on him. The author also understands how the boy feels and tries to make the readers of his book know how the boy feels too. This book also teaches when bullies pick on other human beings they learn a lesson too. Many of Jerry's books are must-reads. But this one is my favorite for many reasons.
Jerry Spinelli also has a particularly great background too. He was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He went to Gettysburg College and went to Hopkins University. In 1991, he won a Newbury Award for Maniac Magee in 1998. Wringer was named the Newbury Honor book. He began writing when he was 16. This book "Loser" was written by Jerry Spinelli, he has lots of other great books that he wrote too.
Donald Zinkoff is the main character in the book "Loser." The "Loser" is about a boy named Donald Zinkoff who shares his experience from first grade to sixth grade. In the beginning of the book Donald Zinkoff goes to first grade and his seat is in the last seat because his last name is at the end of the alphabet. Donald loves school, he would never miss school if he didnt have to, and even if he did have to miss school he would find a way to escape from home and go to school. In first grade his teacher is Miss Meeks, and when she said a word Donald started laughing and he couldn't stop. He wasted time from his class for learning because he couldn't stop laughing. On his first day of school Donald didn't really fit in with all the other kids because they all thought that he was weird, so they didn't pay any attion to him. Donald tells everyone that his dad has the best job because he is a mailman and that's what Donald wants to be when he grows up.
I liked this book "Loser" by Jerry Spinelli because the book took you through Zinkoff's school life of grades first through sixth, and how he loved school. If you like reading Jerry Spinelli's books then you might want to read this book, it is really good.
