Book Reviews of Looking at Rocks (My First Field Guides)Book Review: Little Rock Hunters Summary: 5 Stars
A great book for my children, 3 and 5, to introduce them to rock collecting and hunting.
Book Review: Intro to Science Summary: 4 Stars
This is a birthday present for my 5 year old niece. She's going to need help with reading the words for a while yet, but this book is almost exactly what I wanted. It's a little short, but it IS a children's book.
It explains in some decent depth about how rocks are formed and where they come from. Part of the gift is a bunch of rocks we collected on our last vacation.
I'm hoping that this will spark an early interest in science.
Book Review: A First Field Guide to Rocks Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this simple book for my 5-year old granddaughter who has shown an interest in looking at and collecting rocks. I haven't given it to her yet, so I don't know if it will hold her interest, but my quick review of the contents suggests that it does a good job at introducing a beginning geologist to the fascinating field of geology.
Book Review: Nice intro book Summary: 4 Stars
My son (4) is just starting to get into collecting rocks. He liked this book a lot.
Book Review: Not what I thought Summary: 3 Stars
It's ok - I like the stickers with the different names and pictures of rocks. It is much smaller than I thought it would be. It also seems to have a little too many words and too few pictures for the age group I was expecting it to be for. After Christmas I'll know for sure if my nephew will ever look at it.
