I've been backpacking around both Western and Eastern Europe for nearly 7 months straight and I've been carrying both the Lonely Planet Western Europe and Lonely Planet Eastern Europe guides. They've both come in handy, especially the maps. It's great to be able to rely on them when you're in a new place and need to find your way to a hostel, somewhere to eat etc. Not only are they very good at outlining where to go, but they're also pretty good at letting you know where not to go (ie. some of the sketchier places in and around Kosovo etc). All in all, if you're heading to Europe you may as well pick yourself up a copy, coz no matter how experienced a traveller you are, the information is bound to come in handy at some point!
