I love Lonely Planet guides and in going to Thailand this book was very helpful. I had a slightly earlier version of this book but loved the ease it made in booking train tickets and traveling in the north, but admittedly a lot of my time was in Bangkok. What I did find useful was the maps and suggestions for touring around the city and using the water taxis there - how brilliant.
If you are going to Thailand as a veteran traveler you may be excused for opting out as you know very well if you are the type to be influenced and supported by guide books. If this is your first time to Thailand and are not that experienced overseas I would absolutely recommend this gem.
You will find out how to get around the region if this is your goal, around the nation if this is your goal, or simply around the main city. Something for all styles.
