I found the information on the history of Italy was a wondeful reminder of all that I have learned previously. The Roman Empire, I had just seen HBO's 'Rome' the previous season, so it all became real again. Italian Art and architecture gave me the highlights. A day in the life of an Italisan reminded me of the culture of the country I was going to visit.
And then, each city and site with enough information to whet my appetite for travel and the food, the food!
Language and translation of every day words and phrases is handy and useful. A Directory of info you need- Internet access, rentals. senior and youth cards, holidays, embassies and international calls. Time zones and an Index follows.
This handy Lonely Planet guide is one of the most informative of guides.
I would recommend this guide of Italy as one of the best I have encountered.
