Book Reviews of Lilo and Stitch Read-Aloud Storybook

Book Review: Great for children of all ages
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I bought this for our 4 month old daughter and she she doesn't read yet but she loves listening to us read it while staring at the pictures and turning the pages if we are reading too slow. Also, who doesn't love 626?

Book Review: This book is FINE! Ignore other reviews!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this despite the poor reviews. And, I don't know what they are talking about. They might have a beef with the writer, personally! Maybe it's all in how you read it...give it some personality, but the writing is fine...it is what it is. The pictures are great, it tells the story of the movie...it's all you want in a book to match the movie, for heavena's sake! Enjoy!

Book Review: Good pictures.
Summary: 3 Stars

I like the pictures in the book, but the story, though okay, didn't really bring back the essence or feeling of the film. So this book would be a pretty good book just to carry around and look at, except I think the binding is falling apart, which I was afraid of when I bought it. I'm pretty sure it's not just my book, because I bought the Dinosaur book like this and kept it in the car and its binding fell apart! And I only occasionally take my Lilo & Stitch book in the car. So, basically the whole Read-Aloud Storybooks line is...messed up...and this is an okay book...

Book Review: Great pictures, otherwise very dull
Summary: 2 Stars

My daughter loves Lilo and Stitch. I should have read this book before purchasing it. The movie can get away with some complicated ideas as it is narrated after all. The book tries to hit the high points, which could really confuse a child. My daughter knows the story and she kept asking "where's so and so?" or "what happened to...?". So I basically use the pictures and tell the story in my own words. Then again, if I bought a book, I shouldn't have to do that!

Book Review: One star for the nice pictures
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had the pleasure of seeing the film upon which this book is based; it is a simply delightful story about an alien refugee which lands on Earth and poses as a little girl's pet to escape his pursuers, causing all sorts of trouble. This book managed to take that plot and turn it into a very bland experience.

Disney's Lilo and Stitch: A Read-aloud Storbook is a prime example of why you should never buy something that was obviously made just for merchandising's sake. Imagine a the script for a children's movie condensed down and simplified into a very tedious play-by-play prose: that is exactly how this storybook reads. I can picture the author rushing to finish in time for the deadline as I read. The best thing that I can say about it is that the illustrations are nice, mainly because they appear to be taken from movie stills.

If you believe that children's books should not only be excellent visually but rich and varied in the use of language as well, there are much better alternatives to this one. I will not be buying any more Disney books for my children.
