Fantasia does an outstanding job of introducing the reader to not only the pysicality of her hometown, but the mindset of her hometown and what so many people endure that causes them to live and lead their lives they way they do... the way she did. She speaks about her love for God and explains how He has been the reason that her family made it out of such a depressing place. She opens the mind of the reader to not accept, but understand the mentality of people who experience and live the life that she once lived, which compells the reader to take another approach of accepting and agreeing with stereotypes and being judgmental.
