Book Review: Life's Dream, by Bernard Doove

When Karl left his house after an ugly divorce, his intent was to just disappear into the wilderness. Instead he met a most amazing young Foxtaur vixen-on a spirit quest. Everything changed for both of them-wonderfully so.
Set in a future where Genetic Engineering has created many new species of people to repopulate Earth after the terrible Gene Wars, this story traces the lives of a Foxtaur Vixen named Pandora and the Human who loved her and became her mate for over fifty years.
It deals with some of the deeper questions of life, love, and caring over an extended time while Pandora and Karl live together, raise their children together, and live a full and productive life.
It takes on the stereotypes of our world-and theirs; while showing that species is no barrier to spirit, and life is to be lived fully, day by day.
While it may appear as a children's book, it isn't...unless there is a bit of the child in the adult audience it is aimed for. It is good reading, and the characters come to life through Mr. Doove's word-craft.
All in all, and excellent read!

On post Gene Wars Earth, many anthropomorphic species share the ravaged world with humans. Amongst the species created to help rebuild their world were the foxtaurs - vulpine based centauroids bred to be the caretakers of the unspoiled lands remaining. They were an imperfect species though and evolved traditions and social practices to cope, many differing widely from human ones. Then one day a lonely and hurting man strays into foxtaur territory and crosses paths with an equally lonely foxtaur vixen. Their world would never be the same.Literature & Fiction Books
