Book Review: Lived it and loved it
Summary: 5 Stars
I can remember distinctly finding this book in my 1st grade class room during free time. Ah back when school had that, I never owned it and my only contact with it was the various readings of it during that one year. It always stuck out in my memory though, something about it sort of rang true in me, was I a late bloomer? Well if I was it was ok, and I didn't have trouble reading, writing or interacting, however my parents were a little repressive on ideas and dreams and such. I never really had too much direction in that regard from them and idealogically anything they didn't agree with wasn't tolerated. Now that I am an adult with many of my own real experiences under my belt I finally feel like I am coming into my own and not being under their roof for sometime my ideas finally started having direction and my own personal philosophies and inquiries are abounding.
I wouldn't say conclusively but I just can't let go of the idea that this book helped me make it ok to not ask the questions that I had when they would've been squashed and repressed, that it's ok to be a late bloomer intellectually, that coming into your own thought process can take time. I know that isn't necessarily the direct correlation that the book provides but I must say that the metaphorical message is still in my memory to this day and only as I ventured out and took my own steps has it revealed it's relevance to my development. In my specific environment I know that it has been an amazing help to my own independent thought process and showed me that it was ok, that there is time to be who you are no matter how long it takes.
I certainly look forward to being able to share it with my child and be there with a positive account and real reinforcement that no matter what we are behind her 100% and that you cannot push the river, development happens of its own accord and it is ok for things to take time.
