Book Reviews of Leaving Church: A Memoir of FaithBook Review: Rev. Barbara Brown Taylor hits home for me, anyway Summary: 5 Stars
I especially enjoyed the book because I could relate to it. I was in seminary and after one year, I didn't feel that I was on the right track for where I was suppoed to be the rest of my life. I could see so much of myself in Barbara's description of herself. Passionate about church and serving, Barbara lets the reader understand that it is not for everyone. I read the book twice as I prepared to leave seminary. It was powerful for me.
Book Review: Great book to read and re-read every few years Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first book by Barbara Brown Taylor I read a few years ago and one that I come back to and re-read when I need a BBT fix! Her honesty and how she describes her experiences are somehow reassuring and very humbling. This story is one of encouragement, service, and love through various life stages and life experiences.
Book Review: Inspiration Summary: 5 Stars
What an amazing author Barbara is! I read her books over and over. She has a fresh, "real" look at the call to ministry and ministry itself. Her writing inspires me to not conform to the image of what society thinks a minister should be but instead to be real to myself and to God by being first and foremost myself. Thank you.
Book Review: Beautifully written Summary: 5 Stars
I underlined most of the book. Beautifully written nuggets of wisdom all the way through. And it is NOT about leaving faith -- or even the Church. It's about leaving the profession of the Priest in the Church and embracing the priesthood of all believers, as well as her own.
Book Review: Leaving Church Summary: 5 Stars
This book is such a good read and truly reflects much of my personal experience- I treasure the author's way of writing about nature and so many of her feelings.
