Sandi Patty has become quite the prolific writer lately. This is her fourth book in as many years. It is also one of her better books. Sandi writes in her down to earth, girlfriend-to-girlfriend style.
Patty is more revealing than ever about her struggles with her weight and a negative body image. I was surprised to read that for a long time, she dreaded going to photo sessions and refused to even look at pictures of herself. Sandi describes how she is learning to see herself through God's eyes.
Sandi Patty also describes how for many years, her life was out of control because she didn't think she was allowed to make any choices for herself. This attitude came from a childhood incident of abuse. But Patty tells how today, she travels and sings because she CHOOSES to, not because she feels obligated (like in her early career.)
"Layers" is a very worthwhile book for any woman to read. I do recommend it.
