Book Review: UNA JOYA DE LA LITERATURA DE LAS AMERICAS

Seguramente uno de los tres libros más importantes que he leído en mi vida. Una verdadera joya en la narrativa de la Historia de América Latina. Es curioso saber que el actual presidente de los EEUU, Barack Obama, haya dicho que lo leerá. Más bien debería haberlo leído hace mucho tiempo y, quizás, releído dias antes de su gira a la Cumbre de las Américas en Trinidad-Tobago. Importantísimo gesto del presidente Hugo Chavez al ofrecerlo como regalo al jefe de estado de USA. Una vez que se entere el presidente Obama de las gravedad de los hechos descritos, debería hacer las rectificaciones que corresponden a un político con muchas dotes intelectuales y establecer relaciones de iguales, pendientes desde hace más de 500 años como pendiente también se encuentra el perdón que tendría que pedir el Vaticano por su activa complicidad en los hechos que Galeano magistralmente y, fuera de toda duda, descrive en Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina.
En resumen: una obra magistral, perenme, de actualidad, sencilla, agradable de leer, bien estructurada, chocante, brutal y hasta doivertida a veces. Junto a Cien Años de Soledad y El Quijote representran la cumbre de la narrativa hispano-americana. Que nadie se lo pierda.
