This book is an excellent collection of brain teasers, word games and picture clues all associated with ABC's hit television series, LOST. The book picks up the general premise of the television series by presenting the reader with a series of puzzles and challenges based on the show, it's characters and the major plot lines. The various puzzles and games range in difficulty from a word find grid of interesting LOST trivia to visual clues to test the reader's ability to identify phrases and clues from a pictorial presentation of ideas.
This book is fun and challenging for all ages. Many of the puzzles do not require specific knowledge of the television show, while some of the questions are clearly for the hard core Lost fans out there who live and breathe all of the intricate details of each episode. You don't have to be a die hard Lost fan to enjoy the material in the book, but true LOST fans will be amazed by how the author has woven key plot elements from the show into the various word puzzles and brain teasers.
The book is broken into six chapters each covering a different type of challenge. Chapter One is list of clues presented as word construction clues where key Lost ideas and themes are shown as pictures where the words and letters are arranged in a unique situation that the reader needs to interpret to identify the meaning. Chapter Two is a Sudoku like series of puzzles where key names from the show are cleverly presented in three different levels of difficulty. Chapter Three includes a word search type series of quizzes that are based on famous quotes from the television series. The reader needs to first find the words and then reconstruct the quotes. Chapter Four is a classic word search puzzle where fun facts and concepts from the show are woven into a grid for the reader to find.
The last two chapters are full of surprises for the real fans of the show. Chapter Five includes key names and specific ideas and facts that you try to associate with the Lost characters. Knowledge of the show really helps you sail through this chapter! Chapter Six is like a word jumble where the reader unscrambles the words and then reconstructs statements made by characters. The real test to separate the regular fans from the die-hard fans is to then identify who said the statement and whom they were speaking to. I am sure that there are many people out there that can rise to this final challenge.
Overall the book is well laid out and will provide hours of entertainment for all. The person who waits every week for the latest installment of LOST would truly enjoy this book.
