Book Review: Kaplan NCLEX-RN edition 2008-2009 Summary: 4 StarsFound the book very helpful in how to take the NCLEX exam. By following their way of looking at a test question I have seen my scores improve in this style of testing.
Book Review: Exactly what I expected... Summary: 5 StarsFirst, please note that this book contains strategies to tackle the NCLEX. If you want a comprehensive book I recommend the Saunders text, which companions nicely with this one.
With that out of the way...Wow! This book was an absolute pleasure and helped me pass on the first attempt. The book is an easy read and explains how to dissect test questions and how to choose the best answer. Chock-full of sample questions within each chapter, it guides you with plenty of rationales that made me feel more ready to take the NCLEX. Additionally, the sample questions found in the practice exams are most similar to those found in the NCLEX itself, compared to other sources I browsed through.
Right on the cover, Kaplan guarantees a passing score on the first try. Well, they made good on that promise in my case! If you want to pass and feel comfortable while doing it, you won't regret this purchase!
Book Review: This is the prep book to get Summary: 5 StarsIf you only get one prep book, this is the one. It helps you make the most of what you already know, by teaching you test strategies. To pass the NCLEX, you have to figure out the best answer for each NCLEX question, and just memorizing facts isn't enough to pass the test. This book prepared me with useful practice questions and tips so that I answered more questions with more confidence, and I passed the NCLEX. Whatever else you do to prepare, use this book to practice answering NCLEX-type questions.
