Book Reviews of Jiu-Jitsu UniversityBook Review: the best instructional book i have ever come across Summary: 5 Stars
This is, by far, the best jiu jistu instructional book that I have ever come across. Not only are the pictures far supperior to any other book, but the insight Saulo provides is great (I have been training for over 2 years and found stuff in the white belt section I had not heard of). He shows you what to do and follows with an explanation of what not to do and why not to do it. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in jiu jitsu or mma.
Book Review: best bjj book ever Summary: 5 Stars
what is great about this book is that it focuses on the jj that you actually use. i have read many books on this andmost will put emphasis on things like punch blocking and other self defense techniques, which is fine, but i found myself with only 2 pages devoted to passing the guard. this book has like 45 pages devoted passing closed, open, spider, xguard, deriva, reverse delariva guards. by far the most comprehensive bjj book out there
Book Review: Very complete Jiu Jitsu book with an unorthodox approach Summary: 5 Stars
I really am enjoying this book. Saulo Ribeiro has a unique approach to the focus areas for each belt. I especially like the progression from white to purple belt. He has so unorthodox approaches to defending and escaping certain position - I have already started incorporating into my game and they are working (like running man defense from back or knee on belly). Good book - plan to buy and read/reference many times.
Book Review: To Aussie BJJ players Summary: 5 Stars
If any Aussies are hesitating about buying this book, there is no need to worry. It's a few hundred pages of clear, quality photos and instruction. I'm a blue belt and every page has a little tip and tweak for my game. My copy arrived in perfect condition. This book would be worth at least $70 if bought in Oz. With the $AUS being so high (thank you, Mr Coal and Mr Iron Ore - it was good while it lasted), go for it!
Book Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
This book is probably the best book yet written about sport Jiu-jitsu. Most books on the market are little more than technique databases which, while entertaining and useful for learning, always seem to neglect one of the most important aspects of grappling: proper positioning. This text contains a wealth of knowledge and may well redefine the reader's perception of BJJ.
