Book Reviews of Jiu-Jitsu UniversityBook Review: Great and Comprehensive Book Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this book and was a little apprehensive because the other Jiu Jitsu books I have purchased did not help much because they left out why you were doing certain things, etc.
This book was very detailed and explained why you should or should not do certain things. I noticed a difference the next day on the mat. When it comes down to it to me that is the important thing. Does the book make you better? For me it did and I am seeing improvements daily now. I recommend this book.
Book Review: Home Style JiuJitsu Summary: 5 Stars
An easy to understand text book for Martial Artists of some experience. Combined with the instruction of a good teacher, one could learn a lot of JiuJitu. Some who aren't oriented toward only photo directions might have some trouble understanding this text.
The book is very detailed and has extensive information on JiuJitsu.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the Martial Arts.
I am a fourth degree black belt in Judo and a third degree black belt in JiuJitsu.
Book Review: Great source of knowledge Summary: 5 Stars
I have many good jiu-jitsu videos and books, but this and the Demian Maia videos are the best.
In this book, the first two chapters (white and blue belts) deal with survival and escapes. I'm a white belt, and with this book in only three months of training I could put a very good defense against very good purple and brown belts. This book is very dense and requires repetitive reading to absorb all the knowledge, like all good books.
It's worth every penny.
Book Review: Jiu-Jitsu essential Summary: 5 Stars
Fantastic encyclopedia of technique and the rationale behind the technique in pictures with detailed explanations. Saulo shows (literally) you not just what to do, but what not to do and why. I have about 6 Jiu-Jitsu technique books and this is probably the best and certainly the most comprehensive. I just started Jiu-Jitsu about 9 months ago and after a few weeks of having this book I noticed several at the dojo saying how much I improved.
Buy the book it's worth every penny
Book Review: A Keeper Summary: 5 Stars
Of all the Jiu Jitsu books on the market today, only this one, the Marcelo's book on X guard & Joe moreira's 3 books ... others are just data dumps.
What makes Saulo's book head and shoulder above the others is that Saulo has successfully articulated the mind set, expectation, and needed learning requirements for different levels of jiu jitsu practitioners.
Minor drawback is that he did not get into more detail explanation of some of the moves i.e. running escape ...
