Book Reviews of Jiu-Jitsu University

Book Review: The best text available on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is one of the few books that lives up to every ounce of hype. There is not any other book available on the market as of now that even comes close Saulo's Jiu Jitsu University text. From the content of the book to the layout, this book is fantastic. This book will easily replace any other BJJ book you currently own, and you will literally find yourself constantly go back to it. Very suitable for beginners and long time practioners alike. I could easily go on about how great this book is for BJJ practioners, but it's best for you to find out on your own.

Book Review: I love this book
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great book for entry level jiu jitsu students. It seems to put things into perspective for me during the first few months of training. It is also easy to see that it is a great book for more advanced practitioners as well. I bought three books, and two DVD's when I first started training. Other then the Blue Belt Requirements by Roy Dean, this is by far the best thing that I purchased. For the money it was mymost valuable purchase, and would consider buying only this if you just want to get your feet wet and see what jiu jitsu is all about.

Book Review: worth getting
Summary: 5 Stars

There have been many books on brazilian jiu jitsu, grappling, and MMA, in the same basic format since "Renzo/Royler/Danaher" came out with the successful and informative "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu". I've at least skimmed through most if not all of them. With all the excellent technique videos it can be hard to justify buying a book. A few stand out in my mind as worth while because of the writing and organization of technique. Saulo's book is near the top of my list because of the content and also the credability Saulo brings as a competitor and instructor.

Book Review: What great book
Summary: 5 Stars

Nothing beats the basics. Even after two years of BJJ, going through the section for white belts, focusing on survival, has upped my game tremendously. Also I found that some techniques I rely on and that work for actually have better options for example the escape from rear-mount. Saulo Ribeiro's way of doing it is much better.

The explanations and illustrations are very clear, along with examples of common mistakes and what not to do.

This is book I would recommend to anyone. White belt or black belt you should read it!

Book Review: jiu jitsu university
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a beginner at jiu-jitsu, but found the book to be very easy to follow, it shows multiple angles of the moves and explains them very well. It also progresses along with the belt system. So the things you need to know as a white belt are in the front and progress through the belts with the chapters, so you dont get overwhelmed with complicated moves in the beginning. It also makes you feel better in class when it explains the role of the belts and their role to each other. Great book for beginners or advanced.
