Book Review: I could not recommend this more!!

I love this box set! I am not a video girl. I just feel too silly. But I love having these at the gym with me! Or anywhere, really--the high school track, the park, anywhere!

I was recently in a weight loss competition, where I was given a trainer 3 days a week, which was amazing. But on the off days, I used these cards to get a workout that felt almost as if I was with my trainer. I used to be a machine girl at the gym...I'd get on those machines and work my butt off-but not literally, because the butt never left. But with my trainer to push me, and these cards on the off days, I was able to really get results.

It was great to pick a workout, go through the cards and get anything I didn't know how to do, and take that little stack to the gym with me. I'm lucky at my gym that there is a little room for stretching/abs/handweights, and it's pretty slow at the time when I go. So I could spread out my cards on one of the benches, and do almost all my work in that room, only going out to do sprints on the treadmill.

But you don't have to go to the gym! You just need hand weights, a ball, a mat, a jump rope--very basic equipment, and most can be modified if you don't have something (although you really should have at least one set of hand weights anyway). You could go to the park and do this workout, or hit your local high school track. It's so easy to take with you!

I love the style of workout also--each workout is set up with 5-6 circuits...you do a number of strength training exercises (hand weights (flys, curls, etc), floor work (push ups, planks, etc), and other exercises), ending each circuit with a quick burst of cardio (minute sprint on treadmill, jump rope, or something like that).

Now that I don't have my free trainer anymore, these cards will be even more valuable in keeping up with my workouts. There are slight errors as mentioned in other reviews, like something being called one thing, but meaning another, or an exercise name different on the cards than on the workout card, but they are really very minor, and easy to figure out.

I really recommend getting this set if you can't afford a trainer--and even if you can. It will get you off of the machines, get your butt moving, and motivate you. I will admit that at the end of my challenge, I dropped off. I haven't really gained any weight back, but my insecurity at the gym returned a little, with being overwhelmed and not remembering exactly how to fit different exercises together for maximum effect. I missed my trainer! I didn't want to go back to the machines, but I forgot all the workouts we had done. But, then I remember that I had these cards, and they have the workouts lined up, so I don't need to think about it. I just need to do it.

These cards really, really take the guess work out of workouts! And so much easier than a book, printouts from the web, and certainly easier than taking a video to the gym. =) I think the name is a bit corny, but that's just me. =) That is the only thing I don't like about this product! I could not recommend it more!
