Book Reviews of James and the Giant PeachBook Review: Sweet & Tangy, Just Like The Title. Summary: 5 Stars
Roald Dahl is probably the best Children's fiction writer that ever lived. It astounds me how he could possibly come up with so many unique, original ideas that could entertain so many. In "James and the Giant Peach" he depicts a world of imagination and wonder. James, the sweetly humble, and slightly dull orphan boy, is the glue that ties the many fabulously outrageous characters and plots together in this heart-warming tale. Dahl appealed to his youthful audience with crude, imaginative, poetic dialog that could curl the toes of any squeemish parents. (It's great fun for the kids.) His brutish, loathesome and viscious villains arouse interest and intrigue in young readers to continue this book and find out what happens in the end. The creepy, whimsical, colorful insect and bug characters give this tale its charm and whimsy. It's a wonderful book to share with any child -- great for bedtime reading! Happy reading, and beware the RHINO from the sky!
Book Review: My first reading "love". Summary: 5 Stars
I adored this book when I was a child, I begged my Dear departed Grandmother to buy me it for my birthday and, as always, she didn't let me down! It is a magical an entrancing tale for children but tinged, as Dahl always is, with a frightening darker side. But this is Dahl's magic at it's best, it proves Children can handle the horror and indeed need it, to develop a sense of themselves in a cruel world. Generations of Kids have loved this stuff!
There are not too heavily disguised tales of overcoming oppresion, fighting prejudice and triumphing over evil doing in this book; all excellent themes for young minds to explore and they can do so in a world that is fantasticly entising and not in the least dull.
James has a magical journey of escape from tyranny and finds love in great and different friends. It's a lovley, lovely book, don't just buy it for a Child, buy it for yourself!
Book Review: James And The Jiant Peach Summary: 5 Stars
A great book you should read is James and the Giant Peach. This is an adventurebook. My favorite charactor is the centipede. This book is about a boy named James Henry Trotter. One sad day, his parents are eaten by a rhino that escaped from the zoo. He has to live with his two most hated aunts, Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. The make him their slave. One day, he sees an old man. He gives James a bag of magic bugs. He trips and they go everywhere. They go into the ground and get into the roots of the dead peach tree. The tree grows a giant peach and James goes inside a hole in it. He meets a centipede, a grasshopper, a spider, a ladybug, a glow worm, a silk worm and a earth worm. They are as big as him. They roll down the hill and squish the nasty aunts. James and his new friends meet sharks and cloud men. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure books.
Book Review: I enjoyed it more now that I am older Summary: 5 Stars
Whimisical, creative, silly, I would use these words to describe the fantastic story of James and the Giant Peach. James is a boy whose parents are killed by an unfortunate rhinoceros accident at the zoo. He is forced to live with his two aunts, Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge. They are mean to him and make him work alot. One day though he meets a magic fellow while he is working in the garden. The fellow gives him magic beans. James is supposed to eat them, but he drops them by the peach tree. In the evening James goes outside and is shocked by a huge peach on the tree. James finds a hole in the peach and he meets his new "friends". This book is interesting and very good. It is an excellent book for adults to read to kids, because both parties would get reading pleasure.
Book Review: The greates book Summary: 5 Stars
This book by Ronald Dahl was the best and the most enjoyable. The book was a adventures. I really enjoyed the book because it was so discriptive. I would recomend this book to any body likes to read and enjoys good adventure books.
I really enjoyed this book because it had very good vocabulary. I learned new words and it was fun to read this book. Another reason I liked this book is because the author lets you think that you are in the book and that you are friends with the main character. Lastly I think that this book is good is that it makes you think what is going to happen next and it gives you foreshadowing so you can think even more.
This book is really good and if you want to read it your choice, but if you do have fun and enjoy it.
