Customer Review: So Very Disappointed

I LOVED both of the first two books in the Mercedes Thompson series. I pre-ordered "Iron Kissed" and waited anxiously for it. I was enjoying it immensely until the last part of the book. I won't spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't read it, but I can't begin to express how extremely disappointed I was. If I had been at home rather than an airport, I would have thrown the book across the room. I've been reading these books because the main character is a strong, independent, intelligent woman who not only protects herself but also those she cares for. Why a female author would feel the need to put Mercedes "in her place" in such a manner is a mystery to me. It's almost a cautionary tale for women who are smart, strong and brave. What a letdown from such a gifted author.
