Book Review: One of the few
Summary: 4 Stars
This is one of the few textbooks that teach you Munster Irish (the dialect of southern Ireland), and this really is a shame! As far as the actual text is concerned, it's good. If you're familiar with any of the really early 'Teach Yourself' books (like Modern Persian (Teach Yourself) or Teach Yourself Turkish or Teach Yourself Maltese Complete Course or Romanian (Teach Yourself)) you'll know what it's all about. The lessons include grammar (these early TY texts are heavy on the grammar), vocabulary and translation exercises. There is little (if any) conversational language, and no conversations in the book at all. But still a great Irish textbook, so long as you already know some conversational Irish.
