Book Reviews of Insight YogaBook Review: Wonderful resource Summary: 5 Stars
I have had the good fortune to study with Sarah Powers, in the teacher training programs at Kripalu, a total of 3 weeks and the books is wonderful reflection of Sarah. Of course nothing replaces being with a teacher, and I have 3 notebooks filled with Sarah's words of wisdom from my trainings with her. But when I need some additional inspiration or reminders, this book is close at hand. MInsight Yogay main teaching now is yin yoga, a much needed yoga to address the connective tissues that start to become a significant issue once over age 40. Great book, buy it, and savor Sarah's insights. Namaste, Grateful student, Tina RamsdenInsight Yoga
Book Review: Amazing Yogini, Beautiful Book, Holistic Approach Summary: 5 Stars
Sarah Powers takes us to the next level where yoga can truly impact many aspects of our lives. Her intelligence, eloquence and beauty shine through on every page in simple, clear text alongside informative pictures of her innovative poses. Central to her Insight Yoga are the connections between our body, emotions and mind. Through a customizable mixture of yoga -- Yin (invented by Sarah and Paul Grilley which targets joints, tendons and ligaments and is more passive with poses held for about 3 - 5 minutes) and Yang (Hatha which targets our muscles and is more active) as well as Mindfulness Meditation, she makes it easy for us to self-regulate our energies and self-heal physically and emotionally. For anyone who wants to radiate from a core of well-being, Insight Yoga is a must.
Book Review: A Lifetime of Life Enhancing Practice Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this book. At first blush, the idea of a synthesis of Hatha Yoga, Chinese meridian theory and Buddhist meditation may seem to be too vast and diverse a subject for one book alone, but Sarah Powers has skillfully succeeded in delivering a clear concise manuscript. Without oversimplifying the subject matter she has constructed a cohesive whole using these three different approaches that seamlessly fit together to explore our human condition on a spiritual path. I imagine the practices she has shared and the methods for integrating them into our lives are thorough enough to carry a practitioner through a lifetime of practice. I know I will be returning to this book and to it's practices again and again, as I allow myself to steep in their power.
