Book Reviews of Inside the Titanic (A Giant Cutaway Book)Book Review: Fascinating for a wide range of ages Summary: 5 Stars
My seven year old nephew was enthralled by this book. The amazing illustrations fill every page with a wealth of detail for both adults and kids. The story line is excellent too--it follows two families, the Goldsmiths and the Carters, one in first class, one in third, as they make their way across the Atlantic. The book doesn't gloss over the fact that many died, but has just enough detail to hold kids' interest without being scary. A real find.
Book Review: This is a great book. Summary: 5 Stars
Many other people have said what the book is lacking in factualdetail. The book is meant for children who usually aren't interestedin water tight bulkheads and how a steam engine works. The paintings are superbly executed by ken marshal, the leading authority on how the titanic looks. If you want to see more of his work, he has a book with many of his paintings in it called ken marshal's art of titanic. It is a great book also.
Book Review: Inside the Titanic: A Giant Cut-away Book Summary: 5 Stars
My 8 year old grandson is a Titanic nut. He has taken every Titanic related book out of the school library. When I gave him this book he was like estatic, "This is the best book ever Grandmom!" We are now making a Titanic model from a huge piece of styrofoam using this book as reference. The book is easy enough for him to understand (especially the cut aways) but has enough info to keep an adult interested.
Book Review: Excellent for kids and Adults Summary: 5 Stars
Inside the Titanic tells the story of real life Titanic passengers Frankie Goldsmith, a steerage passenger, and Billy Carter, a first class passenger. It is a great way to introduce the disaster to children because it is told through their eyes, both Billy and Frank survive the tradegy, and it is easy to understand. It also has a few pages on the discovery in 1985.
Book Review: "Thank you for buying this for me, mom!" Summary: 5 Stars
My 8 year old is a Titanic fanatic and this book was a perfect gift for him. It's easy for him to read (but not so much that older kids and adults can't enjoy it) and the pictures & illustrations are the best. A few nights after Christmas, he came running into the room exclaiming "Thank you for buying this for me, mom....it's the best Titanic book ever!".
