Book Reviews of Indigo Slam: An Elvis Cole Novel

Book Review: Nicely done
Summary: 5 Stars

Does anyone not love Elvis Cole? This is one detective that comes across as a human being -- nicely drawn touches in the narrative that result in both interesting stories and a protogonist that you really care about.

In this entry in the continuing adventures of Mr. Cole, we find three children hiring him to find their missing dad. Turns out the missing dad is also being hunted by thugs he previously worked for. Meanwhile, the hero's girl friend is effectively fighting a mean ex-spouse. All of this adds up to a very nice afternoon's read. I recommend this book.

Book Review: Really good stuff!
Summary: 5 Stars

As I work my way through the body of Robert Crais' work, I can't help but wonder what took me so long in "discovering" Messr Crais! I recently completed "Indigo Slam", another 5-star-winner, maybe the best of his novels I've read yet but olde news to those Crais fans who have been around for a while. Great characters/characterizations a good plot and though it was telegraphed beforehand, a rousing, rip-roaring ending which caught me totally flat-footed! Bring on the next book in the series, I'm ready; I know I should be spreading them out... but I can't do it, call me Craised!

Book Review: A review of the audiobook
Summary: 5 Stars

While not as action-packed as "The Last Detective" (which follows "Indigo Slam" in the series, but I've not read a single one of them in order so why start now?), this is a strong book. Lots of smart comments, action and twists and turns, although the very last twist was so obvious that only the clinically brain dead couldn't see it coming. But, that didn't lessen the overall value of the book for me.

The audiobook is read by David Stuart who captures the voice of Elvis Cole perfectly. The entire book lasts about 7 hours.

Book Review: Robert Crais is simply THE BEST!!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a huge Robert Crais fan, I of course have to say that INDIGO SLAM is a great novel! Elvis Cole has always been my favorite private eye, and this time he and Joe Pike take on the Russian Mafia along with Federal Marshalls to find the father of a young girl and her two younger siblings. Like the other novels in this great series, there's plenty of action and suspence that will keep your attention up to the very last page. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book today. I gaurantee you will not be disappointed!

Book Review: Fast And Entertaining Detective Story
Summary: 5 Stars

It starts out simple enough. A 15-year-old girl and her two younger siblings hire Elvis Cole to find their father who has been missing for eleven days. The situation becomes extremely complicated from there. If you were to plot this story on a graph, it might end up looking like a spider's web. But Crais makes it work. This book was originally published in 1997 and reissued in 2003. It's a fast and entertaining read.
