This book was recommended to me for my first pregnancy when I said I wanted an all-natural childbirth. All-natural meaning more than just vaginal birth, no drugs. But in a society where childbirth is not a community effort, most women enter the delivery room with no idea what to expect. Ina May's compilation of birth stories from women all over the country, different ages, labors that were long and short, babies that were big, bigger and huge, just proved to me that any woman can do it. I also found her review of what happens, how and why to be extremely informative. I can now imagine what exactly is happening in my body and work with it. It made me excited to go into labor.
