Book Reviews of I'm Just Here for the Food: Version 2.0Book Review: A Must for any Kitchen Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first cookbook I have ever read from beginning to end and I did that in two days. After spending most of my adult life heating up and eating out rather than cooking, I decided to start learning how to cook and this book has become my bible and constant reference. The recipes are great and I'm learning the why of what I'm doing rather than just blindly following a recipe. The humor and wit is an added bonus.
Book Review: So glad I bought this book. Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent book. Extremely informative and very interesting. Mr. Brown's personality certainly comes through. A non-typical cookbook. Not as many recipes as the conventional cookbook, but the recipes included are comprehensive & easy to follow. I have enjoyed reading this book. It is definitely a cover to cover read. Having read most of this book, I would definitely be interested in buying more of his books.
Book Review: This is your cooking novel Summary: 5 Stars
Get this, and read it as if it is a novel or some non-fiction.
Yes, of course, there are recipes. But, the most interesting parts are the narrative sections and not the "put 12 oz of something, and 10 cans of something else" you'd find other books - perfection through preciseness don't work in cooking (well, there is a place for it, but not all the time).
Enjoy the book, and enjoy the food!
Book Review: Funny as expected from Alton Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great to learn the science behind cooking. I enjoy Alton's humor in his "Good Eats" show, as well as the seriousness of the sometimes wacky details he illustrates. I can picture him as he's explaining the technology behind cooking.
Don't expect to find hundreds of recipes with high graphic fotos in this book, but to learn the why behind the how of cooking.
Book Review: Superbness!! Summary: 5 Stars
If you like Good Eats, then buy this book. Immediately. If you want to learn about the science of cooking and use it as a springboard to improve your cooking technique across the board (and seriously, who wouldn't), then buy this book. Immediately. Through Good Eats and his books, Alton Brown has been become my culinary inspiration and hero. Just get it people. You won't regret it. :-)
