Book Review: gotta love the guy!

This is the book I've been looking for since I started cooking. I have purchased books, subscribed to magazines, visited web sites, etc. but I all have ever found was recipe collections. Alton teaches you how to cook, explains how and why it works and makes it entertaining. Just like his show on Food Network. Same goes for his other book - "I am just here for more food". These two books are the only ones you'll ever need, knowing the process you can create your own recipe collections.

This re-imagined version of "I'm Just Here for the Food" is a pleasant read. Mr. Brown includes many of his popular recipes from Good Eats. The book is essentially a detailed treatise on why our food does what it does when subjected to heat. Sound boring? I explained AB's manifesto of how heat is applied during cooking to my seven year old son (conduction, convection, radiation) and he got it! Anyone who cooks, wants to cook, or knows a cook just might want to give this one a try.Book Review: Alton Brown kicks it!!!

Alton Brown is the man. He really is -- his common sense, no frills, easy to understand explanations about food and everything that can impact how you cook make his books and DVDs fun to read/watch. He has to have been a science teacher for elementary and/or middle school kids -- his innate ability to explain the most complex ideas in the most simplistic terms and ideas is uncanny. Love his books -- love the recipes in the books. Highly recommended for the cook in your life!Book Review: A book for those serious about cooking

I enjoy cooking, but no where could I find anyone to teach me about it the way I felt it in my heart, until, that is, I found Alton Brown on the Food Network. After watching him for some time I decided to buy this book, and though I've not read through the whole thing - I take my time and digest the literature so the food is good and digests well - I feel as though I will come away with everything I want to know without the hassle or "have-to" of schooling until I feel like it.Book Review: I'm Just Here For the FOOD

This isn't the normal cook book for someone who is looking for normal recipies off his show. Instead this is written in a text book fashion. It explains different techniques in cooking step by step down to a science.
By far this is one of the best books on cooking I have ever picked up. It has built my confidence and enhanced my cooking ability. People looking to buy this book should look at "I am just here for MORE FOOD" where he goes into baking principles.
