I liked this book because altough it takes reality to the extreme, this could realistically happen. This book is a page-turner that gets the reader engrossed in the conflict as soon as the second chapter. This is a must-read for adventure and action lovers.Overall, this is a great book that keeps the reader interested and wondering what Cussler and Pitt will pull off next.
Book Review: Iceberg Summary: 4 Stars
Iceberg, a Dirk Pitt adventure novel written by Clive Cussler, was one of the most adventurous books I have ever read. This novel had many characters, but the main one is Dirk Pitt. Dirk is a member of the United States Coast Guard and directs the special projects for the United State's National Underwater and Marine Agency, or NUMA for short.
The book starts when the U.S. Coast Guard finds a ship stuck in an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. They send a message of their findings to NUMA and NUMA sends Dirk Pitt and a doctor in a helicopter to go look at the ship. As the two head back, a black jet plane comes out of nowhere and shoots them down. The doctor dies, but Pitt lives and tries to discover the assassin and why the ship is in the iceberg. As Pitt tries to follow and catch the assassin, he encounters many dangers in Reykjavik and even Disneyland.
Iceberg was an interesting book, but it could have been a little bit longer. I would recommend this book for kids ages twelve and up. If you are interested in reading a short, action-packed book, then Iceberg is the book for you.
Book Review: Amazing Book of Massive Proportions Summary: 4 Stars
This book is a very good read. I have been a fan of Clive Cussler for some time now and none of his books have ever disappointed me. Iceberg is no exception. Dirk Pitt must find out the connection between a missing sea mineral probe and the appearance of a Russian fishing trawler incased in an iceberg. Along the way he discovers a plot that would rock the world if it succeeds. It immediately grabs your attention and never lets go. You will find it incredibly hard to put this book down. It's a thrill ride full of international conspiracy and many plot twists. The climax was amazing and happens in the least likely place imaginable. I have read many other NUMA books by Cussler and they have all filled the need for intensity and excitement that I crave. If you are already a fan of Cussler's works, this will be a great addition to the books you have already read, but if you are new to Cussler then you will be addicted instantly. This book won't help solve world hunger or stop terrorism, but the people who read it would find incredible joy in this book.
Book Review: Iceberg, By Clive Cussler Summary: 4 Stars
The Book Iceberg by Clive Cussler is a very exciting book about an ex navy seal named Dirk Pitt who is now an Ocean researcher. The book is a mystery that entertains your imagination with Dirk Pitts adventures and how he discovers a mystery ship frozen in a Iceberg. The author does an excellent job of telling the story from Dirk Pitts point of view and how he handles the situations that face him. One of the mysterys in the story is how a large Yacht could become frozen in an Iceberg and yet be burned inside the hull. During the reasearch, he also faces many trials like being interrupted by a Russian sub with men and high powered machine guns. He has a side kick Scientist friend that go's through these trials with him. They travel long distances together in a compact helocopter solving mysterys of the ocean. I would recomend this book to people ages 13 and up who enjoy action adventure and mystery. It is a great book that keeps you in suspense...
Book Review: Enjoyable Read ! Summary: 4 Stars
This is my first Clive Cussler book I have ever read. Definitely odd, as I have been reading all my life. I am starting to read my father's book collection, and this is the first Cussler book I pulled.
I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the plot from the beginning, even though some things are a bit far-fetched, but where would the fun be if it was not fiction.
Dirk Pitt is a great character, and I often found myself silently rooting for him. Clive painted the picture enough for me, to envision the Atlantic to Iceland to Disneyland. When I first read they were going to Disneyland, I was, "huh?"... However, I could see in my mind exactly where Clive took us in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride ! Very cool!
I do not know much about Cussler's writing, but I will be reading more!
