Book Reviews of I Love You Like Crazy CakesBook Review: An Excellent Addition to Any Family's Library Summary: 5 Stars
One of my favorite roles as a parent is introducing my children to families of many types. In "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes", my children can understand that sometimes Mommys and Babies become a family by being united via airplanes and adoption officials and guess what? The amazing love is the same. I especially loved that the author shared the gratitude and love for the "other" mother who provided the gift of this baby into her life. Beautifully stated and at times, overlooked. The illustrations must be mentioned also: they are stunningly beautiful with the emotions of the subjects literally entering my heart from the page.
Book Review: You found it! This is the book you'll want to buy :) Summary: 5 Stars
Absolutely beautiful book about adoption. A wonderful book for any adoptive family.
Note: Almost all adoption books include a mother and father. This book is about a single mom adopting from China. Couples who adopt can easily adapt the story to their own situation when reading it to their children. Single adopters will be moved and grateful to finally find such a perfect, wonderful story about their family's experience.
Also available as a board book. And if you like this book and are a working mother you will love "When Mama Comes Home Tonight", also illustrated by Jane Dyer.
Book Review: Beautifully written with Exquisite Illustrations Summary: 5 Stars
"I Love You Like Crazy Cakes" became an instant favorite in our house from the moment we opened it. My 6-year-old daughter, adopted from China, has not expressed a lot of interest in hearing her adoption story-- until we brought home this book. The sweet story and delightful illustrations have made it easier for her to understand her story and we read it together several times a week. It's also a great book to peruse by myself when I want to reflect on the experience of adopting from China. I highly recommend this book!
Book Review: Beautiful, Loving Book Summary: 5 Stars
What a brilliantly written and illustrated book. It explains in gentle language how much these children are truely loved by both mothers and that there are other ways to make a family. This was a favorite of my daughter for her first five years and I could not read it to her without tearing up. Even now it brings back such loving emotions and memories of the day we met our precious daughter. If I could give this book a 10 rating, I certainly would. This beautiful, loving book is a must have in any adoptive childs library.
Book Review: Single family adoption Summary: 5 Stars
Reading this was seeing my thoughts and experiences written down. I was so excited about this book, I bought one for my daughter's birthday present only to find out my sister had bought one for me! So we each have a copy of this beautiful story. The watercolor illustrations are beautiful. The story is wonderful about a single mom's adoption of her daughter from China. It is my story. I recommend this to anyone and in particular to all the single parents looking for a story that is perfect for a forever family of two.
