Book Reviews of I Love You Like Crazy CakesBook Review: A beautiful, tender story--I weep each time I read it. Summary: 5 Stars
I first read this story when I picked it up on a whim at the Library. When I read it to my little girl, I wept. It is a touching and lovely story. Recently, my best friend asked me to check out her wish list on Amazon. I Love you Like Crazy Cakes topped her list. She and her husband are attempting to adopt a little girl from China. They have been on a long journey to become parents and the best part is yet to come for them. I purchased it and when it arrived my daughter asked me to read it. Again, I wept. Such a touching story. You do not need to have adoped a little girl to be moved by this book---being human is enough. I highly recommend this book.
Book Review: A Must Have For Every Adoptive Parent! Summary: 5 Stars
Whether you're looking for a gift for the new adoptive parents or you are an adoptive parent with a child from China yourself; you must get this book. It's warm and tender and describes in simple yet perfect words what it feels like to see your child for the first time and during the trip. It warms your heart and touches your soul! I own the video which is 7 minutes long and the story is told by Mia Farrow, in a very tender way. It's was the most teary-eyed seven minutes of my life. Get this book for a friend, loved one and/or your child; I PROMISE YOU, you will not regret buying it and it will be a book to share over and over with your child(ren).
Book Review: What a beautiful book! Summary: 5 Stars
The other night I was at a friend's house and had the privelege of having her 9 year old adoptive son read me this book! We talked about the pictures, how they reminded me of China and the orphanage my in-laws frequently visited when they lived there, and we talked about how the baby's Chinese Mom would like to know her baby was safe and happy, just like his birth mom knows he is safe and happy.
As someone considering adoption, I was deeply touched by the book, and since my young friend chose it to read to me, he too obviously likes it. I am grateful to this author for sharing her experiences and feelings in such a beautiful, heartwarming book!
Book Review: If you're considering adopting from China, BUY THIS BOOK! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading this book with our two daughters hundreds of times, I still get choked up at certain parts. Lewis does an amazing job of telling this realistic story that is not overwhelming for children, yet still interesting to adults. I first read this book when my husband and I were very early in the adoption process and had narrowed our possible "country list" down to 2 or 3. After bursting into tears halfway through the book in a Barnes and Noble, I told my husband, "Buy this book for me and we're going to China!" You will definitely want a copy to save and a copy to share; it's that important of a book if you are adopting from China.
Book Review: sob fest Summary: 5 Stars
I just happen to be looking at the Children's books while at the mall with my children. And I picked it up, mostly because of the cover, the little girl was adorable. And I started reading it, and I couldn't believe the story. So standing in the book store I stood there, CRYING. I just loved the story. I told my husbands sister-in-law that if they adopt from China that they had better get this book, or I would get it for them. I recomend it to anyone that is adopting, but mostly from China. It's a longer read than I would normally get for a child. But I think they would grow to like it, and really understand that they are truely loved.
