Book Review: Great book, it put me to tears the first couple times

I am an adoptive father of a daughter from China. The story is heartwarming as it tells your child the story Chinese adoption. There were a couple times that I had to stop reading because I almost cried with emotion. The illustrations are very well done. My daughter did not ever have a real connection to the book. I think it is because she is more into books about animals than humans.
Where is the daddy? As a father I have to edit the book to include myself into it. I understand that the author was a single who adopted from China, but I still am disappointed that a father was not included in the book.
