Book Reviews of I Hope They Serve Beer in HellBook Review: Hilarious, and in the most pathetic way possible. Summary: 5 Stars
A few weeks ago I was in Chapters and I found this in the Humor section. Thinking it would make a good read, I purchased it and began reading it on the way home.
This is one of the funniest books ever written. I'm completely baffled as to how anyone could live their life like Tucker Max- which is why it's so funny. Tucker Max is a womanizer, alcoholic, and a complete loser, but lovable!
Pretty much the whole book is just stories about him getting drunk, having sex with pretty much every woman in the US and doing the stupidest things ever. His friends include the smart but loseriffic Slingblade, the lovable El Bingeroso, the trash talking Hate, and many more. The best stories are the Sushi Pants Story, the Austin Road Trip, Tucker MAx Book Tour, Tucker Tries Buttsex- Hilarity Does NOT Ensue, Tucker Goes to a Hockey Game, This Will Just Hurt A Little, and Floss.
The only ones I thought were lame were Tucker F--ks a Fat Girl (the majority of that one is pretty exaggerated) and Girl Beats Tucker At His Own Game- that one was a bit too disturbing for me. Apparently there's a movie coming out of this book later in the year, I can't wait for it.
So if you're not afraid to tolerate 330 pages of a total loser getting drunk and doing the stupidest things ever, feast your eyes on this!
Book Review: Not for people with fragile personnalities! Summary: 5 Stars
If you're one of those who belive that everyone has to live by your set of values; then just avoid yourself the pain of reading this book, because surely you'll feel attacked in your own sense of identity.
On the stories, i don't see anything that shocking i haven't seen any murder, stealing or anything, except maybe it can kill you from laughing.
A lot of people go through life in a walking daze, they do not even know where their values and principles come from, they can't think beyond the thick layers of their ego, labels, judegements and comparisons and are more capable of actual real damage. This book is just meant for entertainement and hopefully will accomplish more than that.
The moral i would get out of it is don't take yourself too seriously, and stop calling evry casual enconter the dude has as a "crime" with a "victim" and a "manipulatuve scheme it just looks stupid.
As for real crime entrtainement i would suggest your local weapons dealer, your freindly wall street neards who bankruped your banks and now your employements, Irak war etc...
Book Review: Funny for perhaps all the wrong reasons Summary: 5 Stars
I read excerpts of this book here on Amazon. I had to have the book! So last week I got it and I have the most difficult time putting it down.
In most of the stories in "I Hope They..." have Tucker drunk and doing questionable things. Most people have one or two of these stories in their life that they'll repeat ad nasuem... Tucker's got a whole book. And yes, he's a jerk, but an intelligent and charismatic one; the most dangerous kind. Even when he's sober, he's got that arrogance to him (like when he complains that he was only making $2,100 a week at this one firm istead of the $2,400 that the firms in New York were paying).
These stories are crisp, funny, and a bit unnerving all at once. You can get down on Tucker Max... but you'd have a hard time denying that this book is pretty dang funny. You won't belive a good bit of it. I'm sure we've all been Tucker Max at least one night. He's a modern day frat boy Casanova.
Book Review: His Story, Not Yours Summary: 5 Stars
Here is to everyone who thinks Tucker Max is dumb, immature, spoiled, etc.
He IS!! He proclaims it in the first line of the back cover. He did not write the book to state how sweet or nurturing he is. His book is just a compilation of his best stories from his website. I can not imagine how everyone would react to his "Midget Story" (his words not mine) and his "I had Sex with an Amputee" Story.
He doesn't talk women or men to doing anything and that is what makes it funny. I know women who would do exactly what he wrote about. Overall this book is filled with raunchy humor. IF you love raunchy humor, buy the book. If not then don't read his book. I personally LOVED the book since it made me crack up. My honest recommendation is to visit his website before buying the book.
To all those IHTSBIH haters, guess what they made a movie out of it. :-)
Book Review: Haters Summary: 5 Stars
I just have a few things to say about this book. It is amazing that people can badmouth this book, weighing that if you read the back cover it is a warning of what is inside and if that is not what you are into then dont read the book. Books are supposed to be entertaining and Tucker Max using his real life story has managed to entertain myself and many of the other guys in my command structure here in Iraq. I passed the book around and many people have read a chapter and said, "Where did you get this, I am ordering one tonight and then so be it." I just wanted to leave this n here because if you are looking for an entertaining book of life events (which some could be the same as yours since Tucker Max was an average guy) then you should purchase this book although it is not for the weak stomached people in the world it does make for a great read.
